Who are We?

Our Saviour's has gone through many changes over the years, but one thing has stayed the same. We are a congregation committed to and passionate about rural ministry! It is literally in our blood. In the later 1800's as the Dakota Territory was being settled, pioneers were busy gathering together for worship. Our Saviour's came out of those meetings, and by 1889 there was a formal congregation. Fast forward, and in 2014, Our Saviour's celebrated 125 years of ministry together!  Buildings have changed, pastors have changed, much has changed... but our belief that we do God's work with our hands, has stayed the same.

We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and a member of the Eastern North Dakota Synod. We affirm the confession of faith of the ELCA, which accepts the canonical scriptures as the inspired Word of God, the source and norm of our life together - in preaching, teaching, and living a faithfilled, Christ-centered life.  We believe that we can live our faith out together, more richly and with more global impact together, than any of us could alone.

We believe that we are a people created by a triune God, called to love and serve our neighbor. We each are named and claimed God's beloved. Through Christ's death and resurrection and by no works of our own, we are all saved by grace.

We celebrate two sacraments: baptism and holy communion, in which we invite all to participate, acknowledging that sacraments are a gift from God and are for all people.

While our mission statement might be lengthy - our life together is summed up in 3 words:

Belong - everyone belongs in God's family, there is room for you here among God's people.

Believe - we believe that life with Jesus matters, and our beliefs turn into action.

Become - We are all becoming who God wants us to be. God is at work making all things new.
